FAMOUS STARS GET OFF ON HOGS
I don’t profess to be a critic of movies even though I have seen my fair share of road movies, and not withstanding this has a familiar theme that I’m sure that all who have seen it, would agree its a bit like City slickers meeting Easy Rider with a lot of fooling around thrown in...Yeah!
The movie is absolutely awash with first class actors and you need to be observant for some little cameo roles by other famous actors will surprise.
The notable lead stars all who are legends of film making like, Tim Allen as Doug, William Macey playing as Dudley, Martin Lawrence is Bobby, and the notable John Travolta as Woody.
The trailer clips that were released, showed us all that it was to be a road trip movie, with a fair bit of humour thrown in, and it didn’t disappoint.
The motorcycles of note were Harley Davidson's… pretty much all of them. Ridden by the stars in all but a few scenes, when doubles were used. It has been noted that a Major Motorcycle Riding Club took part in making up the numbers in the “procession” scenes and some of the stunt work. The Filmmakers were displaying some real heavy talent...besides Harley Motorcycles.
Worth a view on CD just for a laugh!

Harley Davidson is a little bit light on, in it’s 2010 Model line-up (lousy joke) with no less than nine new models we can swing a leg over. This is unprecedented, and represents the largest model introduction in Harley-Davidson's long history.
Harley-Davidson's entry level starts out with no less than a total of five models all priced around, or just under $10k.
Naturally if you have the dosh, and might want to splurge, then you can try four new models from their Custom Vehicle Operations Group and drool over no less than a CVO Fat Bob, CVO Softail Convertible, CVO Street Glide and just the epitome of Harley-Davidson, the top end CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide. These models will only set you back between $25k to $36K not much if it’s what you want, and Harley have the lot.
Yeah, yeah OK, there are models in between these price brackets including the great old American V-Twin. Check out the photo gallery that I found on the following web site, with the best photo line up Harley-Davidson could muster at :-

Lots of things happen when you are traveling on that once in a lifetime trip. Bad weather in Danmark, worse weather in Switzerland, thats OK if you can ski, but my thing is Classic MotorcyclesClick Here!and interesting people "stars" if you wish, that ride them.
This Classic MotorcycleI can only describe it as nothing else but the best complete work of ART in timber, that I have ever seen.
San Marino was my destination that day, and high upon the mountain overlooking the Mediterranean in the distance, and along what seemed medi-evil streets and alley ways. Just below a hugh castle on the highest point (getting to it) was the gift shop that dealt in novelties entirely made of timber. Ah, yes Harley or what? This piece of art had a full chain fully linked, sprockets, tank, front forks, cylinder barrel fully finned, and now get this, the handle bars and exhaust were shaped from individual pieces also. From what I understand out of this, the artist that manufactured this piece, is famous in Italy for creating timber works as big as cars with as much detail. These articles are the result of patient manual labour, made of pinewood, thought up and produced in small series by Francesco Bartolucci. My only dissapointment on that day was that the image was taken with my mobile, and it seems a little blurred but that's another story.

CLASSIC MOTORCYCLES, LEATHER JACKETS and WHITE T SHIRTS

The most likely motorcycle featured on Happy Days would arguably be the Triumph, as it seems to stick in every ones memory. View the attached video closely, listen to the classical music of it's pipes, that certain growl, and make up your own mind. The Fonz’s clothing started a fashion industry craze in the late 70’s with a plain white t shirt under a leather jacket styled in that WW2 Bomber look. The Fonz made everything cool and sexy. The girls loved the look!.... I digress.
The motorcycles mainly featured were Triumphs and were most likely the 449cc TR5 Trophy Twin first introduced at the 1948 Motor Cycle Show.
For road use, it was a low compression version of the Grand. Prix. engine. This model was entered by Allen Jefferies, in the 1948 International Six Days Trial and the Triumph cleaned up this event.
The Knucklehead Harley Davidson that was also a contestant, t'was given it’s name by Harley because of the exclusive shape of the rocker covers, like a shiny set of knuckles on a clenched fist. This had a twin pushrod motor that replaced the previous Flathead (no not a fish) and in turn replaced by the Panhead engined model in 1948. The Fonz was also pictured along side a Harley Davidson
Sportster. Most likely all but the Triumph, were purely promotional events to seize the moment of the day.

Classic Harley Davidson Motorcycles not Depressed.

Harley & Davidson's intention was to be dominant in racing and won its first race with a motorcycle that had a one cylinder combustion engine in 1905.
The famous "Bar and Shield" logo was first used in 1910 and this further established the "brand" of Harley Davidson.

The fabulous sidecar outfit was developed by Harley Davidson Motorcycles in 1914 and their potential was realised by the U.S. military. Harley Davidson motorcycles and sidecars alike, saw service in WWI and interestingly half the Harley production was used by the military.
By 1920 Harley Davidson was the most popular of motorcycle producers in the world and were in over 65 different countries of the world.
When the depression hit, Harley Davidson, like all manufacturers of the time, had stay on top. It had to stimulate it's sales by offering something that was ground breaking. H.D. came up with the iconic "Eagle graphic". The Eagle, being most powerful, helped H.D. through the depression. It effectively put a new emphasis on graphic design, 'Personalised tank graphics'.

There was another time back in 1935 when all things American, turned Asian.
Harley Davidson licenced everything to Sankyo, this in turn initiated the Japanese to set up a new motorcycle manufacturing industry, after all they had every thing they needed, but thats another story.

1902 Was A Very Good Year.

Back in 1902 a young William Harley designed a one cylinder engined motorcycle. As it happend one year later he met up with Arthur Davidson and together they created Harley Davidson.
Their first factory was a small wooden shack but importantly it had Harley Davidson sinage on the front.
William and Arthur had no idea they were birthing of one of the greatest motorcycle companies in the world, Harley Davidson
, a true classic motorcycle company.

Legends on Classic Motorcycles

There was a time when the Classic Motorcycle, Triumph Bonneville had screen ledgends astride. Marlin Brando, Richard Gere, and Clint Easwood all rode ‘Bonneville's in their respective classic movies (no prizes for getting them right). James Dean as legend goes, gave away a Harley Davidson to Elvis, and was rumoured to have sat on a classic motorcycle called a Triumph Bonneville. Jame's personal Triumph motorcycle had "Deans Dillema" painted on the tank. (No, not a movie)

Brando’s motorcycle in fact was a Tiger T110 on which the classic Bonneville motorcycle was based. Brando also appeared in the movie, The Wild One.
I'll digress a little here on motorcycle makes as Harley Davidson also had a hand with "legends" on board. Easy Rider was a 1969 "trip" movie starring Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, and Jack Nicholson. the movie was released in the year of Woodstock and the assinations of Martin Luther King, and Robert Kennedy. Also the election of a president called Nixon. Fonda, Hopper, and Nicholson, rode decorated chopped Harley Davidsons. (Nicholson spent most of his time as a pillion)

Arguably the most valued collectors item would be the "Triumph Bonneville Royal Wedding T140D" to celebrate Charles and Dianna's wedding in 1981. This model came with certification of authenticity and hearalded today as a true Classic Motorcycle.
